Planting peas and beans

Our first crop of runner beans has gone in and a wigwam of twigs has been planted for them the clamber up just as Monty Don did in his garden.

We also planted a crop of Delikett peas which promises to be "a very heavy cropping sugar (or 'snow') pea, which produces masses of stringless pods, which need virtually no preparation before use.".  Well, we'll just have to wait and see!

The herbs are looking goods, as are the strawberries
It's Bank Holiday this weekend so they are sure to be well watered.

Potato planting

This week we enjoyed beautiful weather while we tended the allotment listening to the birdsong and clucking of hens in the background.
 Spring colour

 purple sprouting broccoli

 Assorted herbs

 Broad beans

                                    Rhubarb

Potatoes are such a versatile vegetable.  We planted varieties Maris Piper and Charlotte which were successful last year.
