About Rainbow Allotment

Rainbow Allotment aims to enhance the lives of the residents of three Rainbow Houses which support adults with learning and physical difficulties.   Our purpose-built plot at Ash Road Allotments in Headingley, Leeds, gives residents the opportunity to experience growing vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers for use in their homes as well as a place to go in good weather to appreciate the wildlife.  Assisted by carers and volunteers, the residents are encouraged to take ownership of the plot, enjoy the space and gain satisfaction from the growing process.  In the winter months we undertake tasks such as sowing seeds and producing signs with the service users in the Rainbow Houses.

Last year we grew a variety of crops for use in the houses and residents were able to take pleasure in visiting.  We were thrilled to be awarded Level 3 in the It's Your Neighbourhood category of Yorkshire in Bloom and this year we are working towards Level 4.
